Put the 160 in mine and got about 19mpg with Nelson tune. mine is an 06 so I just got a stat from summit for 20 bucks and kept the neck. Easiest swap I've ever done.

im really not going to worry about the 1mpg loss to tell you the truth. I really wanna lower the chances of detonation and also hot f'in track temps. thanks for the info/help guys.
did you just get a standard sbc stat or something? if you could shoot me a p/n that'd be sweet.
thanks,
jake

What gas mileage should i expect if im getting 11 right now? Could i get it to run at the stock temps if i tuned the fans up higher for a dd tune on a dual tune setup?

Guessing your mpg would be a real shot in the dark. Setting the fans to come on at a higher temp along with a 160 stat wouldn't help your mpg. When you're cruising at 50+mph, your fans don't need to be working at all to keep your engine cool. There's enough flow through the radiator that your engine would be running cool. The only time you would get any higher temps would be in real slow or stop and go driving. Your mileage is going to suck in those circumstances anyway.

It's really not even worth the hassle of changing honestly.
