Default Cranking torsions on a 01' Z71

What size tires can you fit if you crank the torsions? Also how far should you crank the torsions?

285/75/16 will fit without any mods on that truck. To fit a 33" tire you will need to get the Ford keys for the front and then maybe an add a leaf kit or blocks for the rear to keep things level.

I looked at the stock keys and they look pretty maxed out to be able to fit 33"s because of the width.

I switch between my 285/75/16 Goodyear ATs and stock size tires and have never had a problem.

F8L - did you mean 35"s? The 285.75.16 is basically a 33" tire. A 315.75.16 is closer to the 35" tire.

285s will fit w/o any changes to the suspension, but 315s will need some help.

Thanks alot guys, Does anyone know about how much it lifts the truck when you turn the torsions, also, are there any cons to cranking the torsions?

A 285/75/16 is 33" It raises every turn you turn in the bolts. I would not go over 1.5"-2" though.

I cranked mine until the front of the truck was raised 1.5 inches. My 285/75 16 fit on the truck before cranking with very minimal rubbing

You're right mate. I meant wider 33"s though. My stock sized rims wont handle a wider tire but my buddy had a set of 33"s on a 10in. rim I think and it looked MUCH better than my 285s

Default 02 Chevy Truck

I have a 2002 1500 HD and had my truck cranked up. I run 285/75/16 and my truck now sits 41.5 inchs in the front and I added a 1.5 inch spacer to the rear. It rides a little rough, but after a month or tow it calms down some and you will get used to it. I love the way it looks though. It sit as high as a 2500 HD. Good luck.

I thought 305/75/16 was a 33" tire is this not true? click on this link it will tell you the max tire height for our trucks, also if you just go to the offroad part is gives a step by step on the ford key install!
