bullshit. i have tried it and transmission oil will break it down. i know for a fact that after a short period of time the transmission fluid being hot and under that much pressure will cause it to swell thus breaking it down. ive been a mechanic to many years to not know this. thats why they sell tranny cooler lines. and deisel is not flowing at 40 psi from a lift pump through the lines and running 120 to 200 degrees. DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!

BS nothin, I do not know what you are using or buying but automotive fuel line hose has to be able to take a good bit of heat. I have used the reinforced stuff (it has a fiber web in rubber for strength, maybe you used plain rubber hose) for over 20 year with no problems and on my one J20 jeep aux cooler the lines are nearly 20 years old and have never been replaced and my 89 burbs are 15 years old now. If you hook the line up wrong and send hot oil through aux cooler first it can shorten the life of hose some (rubber will harden) but if install correctly it will last a very long time. You are misinformed here and I would not brag about being a mechanic right now either. You could use a reinforce silicone based hose but you do not need too.

nope didnt hook it up wrong. the hose will swell and tend to leak. it is fact. im nopt going to get into a pissing match with you. there are plenty of people on here that know that you are not suppose to use fuel line for tranny cooler lines. FUEL LINE IS NOT DESIGNED TO CARRY HOT ACITIC OIL TO ANYWHERE. think about it. another damn rocket scientist.

it was gates fuel line. 5/16. when i pout in my built tranny it blew it off the fittings twice. i wonder if it is the difference in pressures from the older models to now. and when i took it off the inside was like mush.i have changed a lot out on the newer trucks where they have put in fuel line and there coolers. im in the indusrial field and i change them lines all the time. im sure it is the heat more than the oil. who knows. all lines will get hard from heat and oil eventually.

Use transmission line, that's what it's for. 02denali is right, fuel line for transmission fluid, that even SOUNDS wrong?? For it to slip over the cooler lines that are already in place, use 11/32 line. Not many stores carry that size in trans cooler hoses, but look around abd you should find it.
Here are some pics from when I did mine, maybe that will help you out.
