An inch of protection goes miles in terms of prevention, er or something like that. 10Ga wire is like $5 for 10' at your local autoparts store. For a little more you can get car audio grade wire that is multistrand OFC copper that will probably handle some 30amps just fine. But it's perhaps $1+ a foot.
I think it's the initial draw as the fans start up that draws the most current. Then after that the fans draw a lower amount that will eventually heat up the VSC. The more wire resistance you have, the more heat you generate. So might as well try a lower ga wire...

Cool deal, thanks for the info!
Looks like I will get my **** together and upgrade that wiring early next week or this weekend. Any particiular brands of wiring you prefer/use?

Nah just get the autoparts store brand. But if you won the lotto or sumthin go to a car audio dealer and look at their 10ga power wire. Looks nicer, is more fleixble, and can handle a bit more current.

Hey Hit Man X glad you got your fans working again. I told you one time that the PCM turns off the fans over a certian MPH but I did some more testing and found out I was wrong. I guess I was monitoring them in too cool of weather. On a hot day they can stay on all the time with the AC.

Oh thanks for that heads up! As soon as Allen has that 3 relay setup ready, I will be buying one.
BTW...you going to make it to the GTG in May?

What is the need for VSC? Why can't it just be on or off? Seems like one relay per fan to cut down on load per wire/relay and triggered by the ECU would be the best. Where did I see the wiring instructions on someones website? It showed how to wire up the LS1 fans.

therock... Allen's making some 3 relay setups that will run the fans in parallel and series loads for when you activate fan turn on via the PCM. Like how the OE F-bod and C5s have fans wired up.
Z1500... you don't really need or want fans On or Off. It causes charging spikes and isn't needed to max cool at the low speed. Wiring isn't the problem for me, the included wiring in the VSC does fail in time.
