I don't know if any of the sponsors have collector design models to work from, but I have used Burns Stainless in the past. You can have them make just about anything on their site in mild steel or stainless and they work from the size of the engine, tube length, cam specs, intake specs, etc to end up with a true race style collector. If you're searching for better collectors out there in cyberspace, use the term "merge collector" if you want something better than what comes on most off of the shelf headers. Once I'm ready to change my existing catback setup, I'll probably be using a set of merge collectors in a nice stepped config from Burns.

This should help, but header collectors are not bolt on, you would have to cut off the collector on the header the weld on one of these

I think you all might be confused about the collector length. The "collectors" of these headers were meant to be extended in length by the y-pipe that the kit normally comes with. These headers were never sold seperately. All you have to do is have a y-pipe fabricated, and set your desired length (probably another 10" or so).
Oh and Flowmaster and other companies sell Y-junctions that are dual 2.5" into 3" single which will be needed for a clean and smooth junction.

You should be able to have the y fab'd and have a set of ceramic coated long tubes all for under $325.

So total investment>>>shipped = $350 bucks (not including Cats)
1. Headers $150 (approx.)
2. Collectors $40
3. 2 Reducers $20
4. ORY $140
These are 2-1/2" header collectors.
Includes: (2) 2-1/2'' 3 hole flanges, (2) 2-1/2'' 3 hole gaskets, (2) 2-1/2'' flanged 14 gauge aluminized pipes 8" long. No O2 bungs
same thing with O2 bungs welded in.

I when I mentioned header collectors I was refering to weld-on collectors. Like this:
What I was talking about was cutting off the small collector on the headers and welding on one of these. Not just bolting a 2.5in pipe to the end of the header. The reason would be to give the 4 pipes more room to merge, thus increasing exhaust scavenging...
