Decided to beef up my LS1 (cam Question)
Ok, after my last thread i decied to go with the 382ci and radix. I need help picking the right cam and pistons i think i need a high compretion set up since im gonna top it off with a radix. This is my daily driver so i need a decent size cam what do you guys think about this cam http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/1981...mshaft-Kit.htm any ideas?
For those of you that don't know me i drive a 4.8 05 siverado reg cab.

high compression + boost = w/o proper precautions and octane requirements.
and the hotcam is not an idea FI cam because of the amount of overlap. not to mention thats a small cam and slow ramps compared to an XE and XE-R lobe.
seems to me you need to do alot more research...

I Am Not The Perfect Person To Say What Cam Is Good For Fi But Thte Little I Know I Think That The Tr220 Or Tr224 Dur. And Lift Are Good But Need To Be Cut With A Higher Lobe Sep.

The TR224 is more of an N/A cam. You can use a blower on top of it but if you plan on going FI there are better choices out there.
Like stated above high compression is no good for running big boost. That being said you can run high compression for a nice responsive motor when not under boost but you won't be able to run much boost so it's kinda like having a strong motor with just a lil boost to top it off. Vettes run like this when they just slap on a blower or turbo. For big power lower compression and more boost is your friend since you'll make more HP by dropping the compression a full point and running 3-4lbs more boost than you would by keeping that extra point of CR. That's my take but some will argue the point.

Hmm so the high compression set up doesn't sounds that great of an idea anymore.. what F8LZ71 says makes sence to me thanks man, well the TR224R sounds like one of the top candidates for my lil' devil.

is it an everyday?

I dont know exactly what CR your going for but a big cam will help drop it down some. Im running 11.3:1 -11:5.1 on my N/A LS1 and since the temps have hit 85+ Im having to run a 100/93 octane mix for everyday driving. I havent even attempted to spray it since it has heated up. I personally wouldnt run a real HC setup with a blower. I dont know if you have e-fans but I would recommend them with any HC setup. Im in bad need to get mine on!

thats an interesting setup tiger, hows it working out for you with the 4.8/5.3 heads are u using stock ls1 pistons? times numbers?

Yeah Im running stock LS1 bottom end and its making some real good power(not dynoed). Obviously the cam is a bit mild for a LS1 but I literally bought the cam two weeks before I killed the 4.8 and since Im running a stock TC I used it for the LS1. Since Im running the 4.8 heads the CR is pretty high and since the temps have been 85+ I was getting audible detonation so I started using a 75%-93 octane/25%-100 octane AV fuel and the audible is gone but Im still getting 3 degrees detonation at one spot but before it turned hot 93 was perfect! I think the e-fans along with the LS1 intake will take care of it but Im still gonna adjust the tune for the summer. Once I get a bigger cam I wont have to worry about it. I havent dynoed it yet becuase Im not at a point were Im worried about it but will after the new mods. I dont have any track times either becuase of traction issues! **whisper** I still have a open diff! I can roast 20's from a dead stop for a 1/4 mile or so! If I were to safely guess I would say I should run mid 12's on spray mid 13 on motor on 16's!
