where did you find those specs i have been looking everwhere? Maybe you have an idea on the one of the best cams i can get without having to buy a stall converter or worry bout pushrod length changes basically or valve springs. I basically want stock or a little over powerband no higher than 6200rpms... but better lower end tq good midrange and better high end.

Sorry for not responding earlier, my stupid computer sucks. (dial-up) I've got those specs from "How To Build High-Performance Chevy LS1/LS6 V-8s" (LINK). Very informative book to own.

If you want to keep the stock torque converter, look into Vinci cams. (Vinci HP LINK). They carry several nice grinds for stock aplications. Something like the VHP 065 (200º/208º .502 .502 114) would be a good upgrade over stock.

If you dont want to spend too much $$$...this is the route I would go:

I suggest you find a used cam close to a Compcams 216º/220º 114, some LS6 springs (only $53 @ SDPC & good to .570 lift (LINK)), and a TB converter which stall around 2600rpms on 6.0s and sell for around $200. You will spend about the same $$$ with this setup, oppose getting a new Vinci cam, and this combo would net you more hp and better ETs.

Hope that helps.

Ok back on topic...anyone with a 5.3 Desktop Dyno 2000 file???

Hey i was just gonna bump this to see if anyone else might have something... i just got desktop dyno 2000 myself and got the specs all right for a 5.3 just i couldnt figure out how to get all the info i need for induction cfm and how to build the stock cam cam profile.... but on smokemup.com they have a cam library with 3 comp cam files... so you can make a decently accurate dyno graph with a comp cams 206/212, a 212/218 and a 216/220...

here is some info for head flow #'s and some stock cam, valve and flow rates... link

here are some other stock numbers link

oh and here is the cam profiles but you have to be a member to download em...

so if someone knows the induction cfm for our engines lemme know! (you know like a 700 cfm demon carb or something... but whatever that equates to for our trucks lol...)

Default Dd 2000

I was using Desktop Dyno 2000 last night & made up several 5.3 combos. I'll have to input the head flow numbers above later & try them out. I've made these up for my Corvair and Trans Am. I don't think you ever get the same results as the factory numbers, but I know I may be off on the cam specs as I'm not sure the way I'm doing it is the right way (end result is same LSA/Lift/Duration @ .050, so I think this is right). I've never figured out how to convert duration numbers @ .050 to Intake Valve Open (BTDC), IVC (ABDC) Exhaust Valve Open (BBDC) and EVC (ATDC). If someone can share a formula to do so, I can make a calculation form in another program that will do this the right way.

The output numbers below are not the exact peaks, since the tables are in 500 RPM incrments.

As far as output, with the stock heads, cam, CR, and exhaust, I got:
HP: 333 @ 5500
TQ: 361 @ 4000, 278 @ 2000

With some Patriot stage 2 heads and the Comp XE-R 273 cam, 9.5:1 CR, and shorty headers:
HP: 451 @ 6500
TQ: 430 @ 4500, 330 @ 2000

With some TEA 243 ported heads, Comp XR265HR cam, 10.5:1 CR, and shorty headers:
HP: 466 @ 6000
TQ: 455 @ 4500, 367 @ 2000

The files are like 3K each, so I will ZIP them and try to attach them here. I've also attached a jpg of the results table for the TEA/XR265 combo.

As far as the above-
On Smokemup, I only found 1 LS1 cam profile, a Crane. I also need some help on translating cam profiles to the Dyno2K input numbers.
For the induction, I used 1000 CFM sequential injection. The difference between 700 & 1000 was like 3 peak HP.
