Default Detonation under light throttle

I have a 99 5.3 with only a dynomax exhaust and intake mods. It has a problem with knocking under quick accel. If im cruising around 45 or other highway speeds and tap the go pedal a little it will start pinging for 2-3 seconds and feel weak then pickup and go. Also sometimes it will rev up 3 to 400 rpm when i do this and take off then fall back down to where it was in revs after a second. That kindof feels like the tcc unlocks and locks back up really quick. I have did seafoam,maf/tb cleaning/plugs/fuel filter/fpr. None helped.

What octane gas are you using? I was using 89 and I would get ping similar to your situation. I started using 93 and haven't a thing (or should I say a ping) since.

87, 93 helps but doesn't solve the problem. With gas prices i can barely afford 87 so i was hoping to find the problem so i didn't have to use 93 to releive it.

if it is a 99 model as you said then they are notoriuos for knock. i think most are swapping out the 02 pcm's for these 99's and are having good luck except for the battery light.

Mine does that too, but I actually don't "think" it's KR. I think it's more of an odd tuning thing with the TCC. I modified my TCC lock and unlocks, and haven't noticed it doing that in a while.

I dont mind a battery light if the engine will run better. So could i just get a tuned pcm and ask for one for a 02 and plug and play. If not what all do i have to change to swap to a 02 pcm to get rid of this. I guess i could get teh tcc lock speed upped also.

I'm very interested in your outcome. I've got the same problem in my '99. Will cruise fine, but give it a little gas and it pings like crazy for a couple seconds.

i think if you get it tuned it will work fine. there are a couple that are working on the batt light. yes i think it is plug and play.
