Diablo Tuner is out

Diablo Tuner is out
The Diablo tuner is out for LS1's and Trucks starting Friday! Is anyone going to be the guinea pig and try it out? It is supposed to be about 450 dollars. It adjusts air/fuel, timing, shift points/firmness, no speed limiter, tire/gear changes, and some other stuff I forgot. Let me know what all you guys think about this product.

Re: Diablo Tuner is out
John (?) at Diablo tuners wouldn't tell me what, if any change they made to the torque management. He also informed me that the shift points will not be moved up from stock. On the 6.0 HD's, that shift point is 5200 rpms, much too low. I questioned him about this, and he states that the 6.0's don't make any power above that rpm anyways. I disagree, and seeings as how raising my shift points from 5200 to 5700 has increased my mph by several, and decreased my ET, I call B.S. Shift points should be 500 rpms above peak power anyhow. Think carefully before spending $450 for something that's trying to reinvent the wheel, when you can get a Superchips tuner for $286 on sale, that is proven to work (in my case at least).

It might not make more power, but you stay up in the powerband longer. Raising the shift points on my truck gave me about 3/10ths.

Well I would get a Superchips but I don't want to fry my computer every time I program it. I guess this will join the Hypercrap and Supershits as the Diablow. Someone in the Austin area needs to get me a good deal on Ls1edit.

Re: Diablo Tuner is out
Thought I'd post one of the emails I sent and received from Diablo:
/I have not had time to check out the torque figures yet, we decided to keep
the shift points stock since the power curve starts to drop at 5100rpms, so
you have no power up there anyway, engine will just struggle to get up
there. Don't you agree?
Sent you a dyno sheet of the 2001 6L auto we did. check it out. This is a
3rd gear run.Sincerelyjohan@diablosport.com3500 NW Boca Raton Blvd. Suite 506

If you could check the torque management % #'s, and let me know, I would
appreciate it. So you are saying, you're leaving the shift change rpms at
the stock 5200 rpms, at WOT? You guys might want to reconsider that.
There's much to be gained from raising it to at least 5600-5700 rpms, even
bone stock.

Re: Diablo Tuner is out
My local speed shop has became a dealer and I will be the guinea pig. I will do a stock, hypertech, and diablo track run. I will post the results on my site www.sshotrods.com
