carb is california's regulations for emissions. tougher than any other state. stands for california air resource board or something similar. manufacturers have to submit their products for testing before they are approved for use in cali.
magnaflow, borla, corsa, hooker are both popular and good.
that is listed in order of lowest to highest volume...basically
and i guess also coarser sound from smoothest (magnaflow) to coarsest (hooker)
you need to figure out whether you want to do this yourself or at a shop.
if yourself, you can buy catback and do in garage.
if shop, you can have them replace stocker muffler with aftermarket and no touch pipes. or you can have them do piping too.
generally cheapest is to do replace stocker muffler with aftermarket. you get all the sound difference and almost all of the performance gain.
next more expensive option is have shop do bigger pipes and muffler. this is only little bit of gain as stock pipes are 2.75" and you will replace with 3"
most expensive option is catback
no numbers, but i personally believe that a bolt-ons only car will NOT get much difference in gain between fullly new setup and new muffler w/ stock pipes.
I would recommend you have a shop swap in muffler of your choice. you get the new sound and you get almost all the performance gain you would get with a catback. this should be around $150-175.
