Differences in the lobe can cover lots of things. Lift and ramp rates are the normal topics discussed when talking about lobes. Some open slower, and don't open as high like the plain comp XE. Others stay closed longer, then snap open and lift higher like the comp XE-R.

They grind Futral's cams similar to the way comp grinds thunders.

From most aggressive to least. -- xer, thunder, fms, xe
Talking with Futral, their lobes fall inbetween the Comps. Thunders do also.
That is just a standard. They all have their funky wild camshafts.
A more aggressive ramp will usually have larger specs. They can fool you too. Take a camshaft that has 205* of duration @ .05, but the lobe has a max of .590 lift.
It should have a bunch of duration in the mid-lift section.
Alot of people are led to believe the Comp 212/218 high lift, and low lift are the same. Just different lift. But that's false. You have to look outside specs @ .05
