Default Dirty air filter and Gas Mileage

I just wanted to know if a dirty air filter would really effect my gas mileage that much to be noticable. Just a question I really don't test my MPG that often.

it can make a noticeable difference if the filter is really dirty which is not out of the question if you made your own intake. i would say just clean it periodically and dont take a chance.

You probably already know this but any open-filter setup will get dirty a lot faster than one in a box.

A dirty filter would have to affect mileage and performance. Also, the heat will dry-out the oil in the medium. I service mine about once a year.
