Angry Disappointing Dyno results....

Well gents, I finallly put the 6.0 on the Dyno Friday afternoon. Too say the least, I was very disappointed in the results.

307.9 rwhp @ 5790 rpm's
305.0 rwtq @ 4950 rpm's

My previous results with the 5.3 were:

278.9 rwhp @ 5220 rpm's
305.0 rwtq @ 4380 rpm's

Granted I made more power in the upper rpm's, but I was hoping for more, especially down low with the small cam in there. My HP curve and TQ curve are almost identical up to 4600. The 6.0 lost 5-10 rwhp and tq between 4040 and 4460, but gained well above 4600.

5.3 dyno day included:
~40 degree temps, maybe colder...
Stock rims & tires (265X16)
Stock tranny and TC
K&N FIPK II
Corsa Cat back
ASM Headers
BBK TB
E-Fans

6.0 Dyno day include:
~85 degree temps
Heavy *** tires and rims (305X16)
yank TT300 and Transgo
206/218 @ 0.5" 113 Crane cam w/ LS6 springs
P/P Heads
ASP Crank Pulley
Bolt ons mentioned above

So, are the tires, TC, and higher air temps to blame for what I consider less than optimal results? I was hoping for 350rwhp.

Pulls were made in 2nd. A/F was about 0.1 rich as it was on the 5.3 pull. I know I'm getting some KR (~7*) at WOT, so maybe another tune is in order. It looks like I'm pulling pretty good up till the rev limiter which I'm assuming is set at 6k. I'm afraid to go higher because of valve float.

I'll try to get the results scanned and post them up.

Any suggestions, or am I just being a cry baby?

Stick it out bro. Something probably isn't quite right and you'll get it fixed

I'm in the same boat. I lost a few MPH and my ETs/MPH sucked last night so I feel your pain......

Woohoo!!! Another beer to keep mine company!

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'll give Wester's a call this week. Maybe another tune will help. Any suggestions besides maybe pulling some timing to get rid of that KR. Not sure if it's worth leaning it out a bit...

I think you listed all that was wrong.
-timing/kr
-weather
-rims
-TC

What heads are you running, who did them?
Also, what size is the BBK throttle body?
one more thing. 206/218 duration? what a split

same dyno? are the number corected? timing is huge, if your timing is all over because of KR there is no telling what your true potential is.

those tires could be eating some serious hp.

Thanks! I guess I know what I'm doing finally.

The heads are stockers, just ported and polished. Stock Valves...
80mm BBK
113 LSA, needs to get the idle bumped up in the next tune. Starting to have cold start/idle problems in the wee hours of the morning. Don't think the neighbors like that.

Depending on the year, the 5.3L is either 285HP or 295HP at the crank. Taking 17% for drivetrain loss, that puts you at 235-245 RWHP. Puts the 5.3L about right for the mods at ~40RWHP increase.

Which 6.0L do you have - LQ4 or LQ9? Or is it built from scratch?

Second gear pulls are not as accurate as third gear pulls. #s would be a little better with a third gear pull. Your like most of us your taller tires force you to dyno in second.

there are just too many variables to expect any certain numbers. 2nd gear pulls are just as acurate but a little lower. just so long as he runs it in 2nd every time to keep it consistant.
