Do I need lifters with a new cam?
I am getting a Cartek "M" HYD. ROLLER INT-218 EXH-222 .562" LIFT, 113 LSA I am also getting a new timing chain and comp 918 springs and a 3000 stall. I just wanted to know if I really need new lifiters or not? I have 80,000 miles on my motor and it runs like a champ. 15.01 at 89.89 in the 1/4. Also do I need to get a new oil pump? I see alot of people doing so, if so what should I go with as far as lifiters and oil pump. Thanks. One more question is anyone runing this cam if so how does it sound. Thanks alot Erik

I never changed the lifters in my truck when i did the cam, well either of the 3 cams I used.
Good springs, on the otherhand, you should do on a higher lift cam.
Oil pump might be a good safety item also but I don't know if many of the truck guys do it. ALL of the F-body guys do/did it. I know I did.

yes change out the oil pump. I did mine, and it is added safety, and preventative maintenance. that way you wont have to get back in there when it does go out.
as far as lifters, I am having problems with mine bleeding down.

I found a OEM 5.7L oil pump, that had been takin off a crate motor.
never been used. got it for fairly cheap. works like a champ
post up in the parts wanted section you might get lucky.
other wise check out Scoggin Dickey-------------->
they have some oil pumps for around a $100 or so
