Default Do you need a stall with 01 ls6 cam

I was wondering if you needed a stall converter for an 01' Z06 Cam in a 5.3 silverado?

To get the best benifit YES. If you advance the cam then I htink it's doable without. But otherwise get ready for a long wait while rpms climb to over 4k before you feel big power. LOL

If you advance the timing doesnt that kinda cancel the whole stall, and if i was to get a stall do you think 2500 2600 stall would be fine?

I mean advance the cam, not the timing. Some people are getting an adjustable timing gear and advancing the cam 4deg and it works really well. Otherwise I wouldn't do anything smaller than a 3000stall.

I have Edlebrock Shorties, strange 4.10's , custom PCM, K&n Intake, Does the gears have any effect good or bad? Is it still neccesary to have a stall with Gears

yes. the gears and all will help a little. but the cam will not pull till above 3000 rpm's. you will need to advance the cam or put in a stall. if not the truck will feel sluggish down low and then start pulling good up top.
