checked every thing else pistons are ok , I can rotat the engine super easy with the heads off , so bearings are OK

waiting on the new cam to insatll all the shiz back

wow , what freaking nightmare , it could be this it could be that ,every day you learin somthing new

so whats going back in there? the 219-222 .607 .602 111+4 will be sold and replaced with another Pat g turbo cam
new LS9 head gaskets , and trunnion upgrade.... should I add a duble roller chain ?

the new cam is a 223-230 115+3 if im not mistakin

Did you pull all the lifters to visually inspect them? Just about every LS1 engine with a single timing chain that I have seen has that slack in it which is considered normal.

he wasnt pointing out the slack, the spring tensioner that is prone to fail...failed. for those that ahve a spring tensioner, if you're ever doing a cam swap, spend 5$ and convert to the wedge style tensioner.
