Does the Comp 212/218 high lift cam have advance ground in?

Specs are: 212/218 .558/.563 115 lsa

I remember reading that there was a way to figure valve overlap given the advertised duration at .006, but I forgot the formula. Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks,
Ryan

+2....maybe

intake duration + exhaust duration / 2 - 2 * lsa
that'll give you the degrees of overlap relative to tdc

you can also figure it out given the valve events @ a certain lift by comparing EC & IO

You should be looking at -15* of overlap.

Comp cams and Texas Speed and Performance both recommended a custom grind .212/.218 and .557/.562 with a 114+4. The lobe separation is 114, but the 4 degrees in ground into the cam. They both agreed that this would help the low RPM and mid range without sacrificing and top end or drivability. I don't know, but that what they both said indepently of each other, and that's the cam I went with. I can scan the cam card if it would help.

It costs the same whether you buy an off-the-shelf 212/218 hi-lift cam, or have Comp grind one the way you like it (LSA +/-, advance/retard). There is no reason not to order one to your exact specs.
