do ya'll think i need one? i was told since i was in there doing the cam swap that i might as well put one in. will i really benefit from putting one on or is it mainly for a really high horsepower application. need feedback.

Not exactlly necessary. A double is really for high revving, high HP manual tranny cars. A T56 car puts more undue stress on a chain.
