Default dreaming of a seriously bad *** z71

have any of you guys spent any time over in the internal engine forum? wow, i need to rob a bank or something.

i believe my next mod will be heads and cam but after looking at that forum for awhile i am wondering about a iron 422(.035 over bore and stroke it from a 3.64" to a 4.125"), i haven't seen any prices on that kind of monster but i would guess around 10k for a long block ready to go. people are pulling close to 500rwhp with an A4 and no power adders and with it being iron and a forged rotating asembly it would be just waiting for a large power adder.

acording to http://www.prestage.com/carmath/calc_etmph.asp

at 5500lbs and 400rwhp = 13.94
at 5500lbs and 500rwhp = 12.94
at 5500lbs and 650rwhp = 11.86
at 5100lbs and 650rwhp = 11.57

woa, i can imagine mid 11's in a ext cab z71, i think the 500rwhp NA might be a hard number to get to but the 650rwhp(NOS) looks like it is prety easy to get to. a good tranny might hold up, what about the rest of the drive line?

just dreaming but it is dreams like this that keep me interested in my truck, if i was out of mods to do i would have to sell it.

Hehehe...I've been thinking of doing something like this. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> My truck only weighs 4300(not a Z71 obviously) with me in it now and I can think of ALOT of useless items to take off. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> I wonder how it would be with an iron 422ci 500rwhp solid roller motor. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I was thinking of that kind of thing this afternoon. I spend 10 minutes listening to an elder gent talk about how much he loves his lightning and how quickly he hits the 140 speedo in it.

I drove away thinking about how I could plumb in a turbo setup on a forged 6 liter. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

would the whipple just be a restriction at that point? would it be able to pump even a few lbs? i wonder how i can figure that out. probably be best to just dump the whipple at that point and run some prety high compresion, i think i would keep it hydralic lifters and not too huge of a cam, keep it somewhat longterm reliable but then throw a huge shot on it.

I couldn't imagine driving a 5000# 500 HP 4x4 around town, but I'd like to try! Burn out all 4 tires at the track.

I keep telling myself that I need to get a used SCSB 4.8 (like XLR8N). Then strip it down and build it up. Something fun to drive.
