Default Driving impressions of Trailblazer stall (with vids)

I know there has been a lot of questions in the past about the trailblazer stall GM# 24215557. So I took my camara out and got a couple videos so everyone can see and hear how it works. All video were done at light throttle, exept the 4HI stall up, I did it at 60-80% throttle. I did a wot 4HI launch before and it stall to 2650-2700rpm.

Taking off from stop, light throttle

20 - 100km/hr light throttle

Locked then lightly unlocking

4HI stall up and 3/4 throttle

Thanks for the videos.

Are you pleased with this converter, or do you wish you would have done something else? Do you like the way it drives? Anything feel funny to you about the converter's behavior, anything you wish was different?

If you have an opportunity for taping a WOT launch and run through the gears, I would really appreciate it. But not if you can't do it safely....

I am pleased with the convertor, but I wouldn't want anymore stall for daily driving, because it revs high before the convertor locks up.

There is no way for me to tell the gain from the stall, because I added around 100hp at the same time as the stall. But I can see now why everybody says to get a stall before you put in a cam. A cam without a stall will not give you big ET gains, because what you gain up top, you lose down low.

If you have an opportunity for taping a WOT launch and run through the gears, I would really appreciate it. But not if you can't do it safely....
If you want to see the shift drops, I have a video here, I was tring to get the stall rpm, but I was in 2wd so as you can see it didn't work to well.

This isn't WOT by any means, my shift points are set at 6000, and in the video it shifts 1-2 at 5400 (spining the tires ) then drops back into 1st, then 1-2 at 5200, then 2-3 4500.

2wd take off

Here is also a clip, from giving it a bit of gas after making a left turn.

Gas around corner

That helps a lot, thanks.

When you say you wouldn't want anymore stall because, "...it revs high before [it] locks up...", aren't those two different things? I mean, isn't how high you brake/flash stall is a different characteristic of a converter than when you achieve lockup? How much over stock does it rev? I thought lockup was a function of speed, not RPM's. I also thought TC lockup was programmable.

I see you drop about 1800 RPM's (5300 -> 3500) between high-throttle shifts, which looks pretty good, like it keeps you in the powerband. What do the RPM's drop between shifts at WOT, or have you noticed? (not necessarily 1-2 because of wheel spin, but maybe the 2-3 shift at WOT). I'm going to have to go see what mine does with the stock TC to see what the difference would be over stock. I bet my truck weighs more than yours does, too.

Excellent work, thanks again for the vids.

I'll bet a TB stall wouldn't quite be enough for me since I only have a N/A 5.3 in a light truck.

Thanks for the vids!

I'm sure the tranny-end of it would work if it was a 4L60E/4L65E (same trannies), but the flywheel end is where the issue would be if there was one.

You just have to tell Yank what application you need it for. The input shaft is different on a non LS1 trans. You need an LT1 style converter, so no the TB converter would not work. My buddy ordered an SS3600 for his 4.3L truck and got an LT1 style.
