drop spindles or LCA's
Looking to replace my 2" drop coils with either spindles or lower control arms. This is only a 2" drop - not combining anything for more drop - I'll be using the stock coils/shocks.
Both cost about the same, and they both appear to do about the same thing, the only difference being the spindles raise the wheel/axle up while the lca's drop the spring down which brings the lower assembly up. (I may be wrong about all this however....never messed with anything besides drop springs) The only trouble I've heard with lca's is the bumpsteer. But some have said lca's "ride better" than spindles - which I dont understand. They both seem simple enough to swap out - about the same difficulty level.
At this point I'm mainly interested in a quality ride instead of handling performance. I'll be switching to a hanger/shackles in the rear as well to use my stock leafs, along with some shock extenders which I probably should have gotten a long time ago. The stock coils/leaf/shocks seem like they'll ride much better than my current setup. I have Belltech sway bars to keep body roll down.
sorry so long, but I want to get it right this time....
1.Which is better for maintaining good susp. geometry?
2.Which ride better (or is there a difference if using the stock coils)?
3.Which lca's are best - DJM?
4.When using lca's will they easily install with the stock spindles w/o having to mess with ball joints etc?
5.When is a upper control arm needed - only with lca's+drop coils?
