okay so as you can see in my sig ive got flowmaster exhaust which no one seems to like but im not going to put money into a new exhaust until i drop my 6.0 in next year...so ive got a 2.5 single inlet/2.5 dual outlet muffler that has pipes exiting out the rear with tips...today when i get home im chopping all that off and dumping them right after the muffler...not before or after the axle but right after the muffler...who has this done and loves the sound? i dont care about magnaflows or corsa or anything else right now cause i will be putting magnaflows on with my 6.0 but for now i want louder and i dont care about resonance...who has this done and how does it sound at WOT and how much louder is it than having pipes all the way to the back?

I have a dumped flowmaster on mine. It started as the same setup you have now. When I dumped it though, I left about 12" of pipe and dumped it right before the axle. The sound didn't change much, but maybe that was because I was already running LTs.

I'm with ap2002. I used to have that setup dual 2.5" with x pipe and flows all the way to the read and had to cut them and dump them when I did my drop. Too loud. Ok at 1st but it got old quick. Of course I removed the cats also. I run a totally different exhaust syst. now, much happier. Borla single in dual out dumped, nice and quient and E/cutout for a little extra pep and a lot more noise.

and also im having this done today because yesterday when i went to do it i found out that my muffler was like waaaaay back there....its about 2 inches in front of my rear axle so there was no point in dumping from there...so im having it moved up to about the end of the cab and dumped from there...and the guys doing it for pretty cheap too so i will get a sound clip afterwards and let you know how i like it...hopefully WOT is ***** out loud

vehicles with dumps before the axle really arent that much louder.. it just sounds louder because its echoing off the ground and the underside of the truck. I couldnt stand mine with no cats and headers dumped before the rear axle.. you couldnt hear the radio at 50mph from the drone. I found some pipe and dumped it right after the axle and WOAH... 80% quieter inside, but just as loud as it was before outside. Just the sound exits the rear more so its LESS noticeable inside the truck

anything that dumps under the vehicle close to the cab is gonna seem MUCH louder then it is outside

I have my Flowmaster dumped now right after the axle. I also have LT-o/r Y-pipe. 3" in, dual-2.5" out. Sounds good, but not much droan inside the cab.
On my old 1500 (TBI 350-1995) I ran edlebrock headers o/r Y-pipe into a flowmaster dumped before the axle. It sounded good but it rattle the crap out of the interior. But all that counts is that you like it.

I have exactly what you're talking about. It sounds louder inside the truck, next to, and beside it. I think it sounds better than before. More resonance at all speeds which kinda bothers me sometimes. Coins in my cupholders shake around and make noise.
