Yeah...

I've been meaning to carry around a few stockers (and some wire ties) as spares in case my little setup fails while I'm out and about.

How are you keeping the boots off of the headers? That was a problem I had and I switched back to stock wires.

The only boot that wants to touch is the rearmost one on the drivers side there... (sorry, I forget cylinder numbering).

I have my little bracket with the hole for the wire tie angled JUST right, to hold the boot about 1/8" from each primary. It was a PITA to get set correctly.

I can get some pictures if you want? Give me a few minutes...

Its amazing at how crappy your exhaust can sound with a few minor leaks.

My exhaust has leaks when its cold. Once the pipes get hot, everything cinches up tight and it sounds better. On cold mornings, with the higher idle, rich mixture because of the cam, and the leaking exhaust, my truck really sounds bad. Once it warms up to operating temps, its all good.

Here are two of the so-called brackets:

Picture 1
Picture 2

Here is the best I could get of the wire itself. It looks like it's touching, but it has an equal amount of clearance on both sides.

Wow, everyone of the boots on mine laid right on the primaries. Damn boots are so freakin' long.

Good wire ties. I thought of that for mine, but I didn't want to take a chance on them melting, for any reason. That's why I just shaped my brackets to hold back the wires, themselves.

Looks great. Glad you got everything worked out on it.

No kidding??

I hear that the metal shields on the stock wires will fit on the MSD's... Would that have helped you much?

Thanks, Yeah, I'm definitely nervous about the wire ties melting. I want to go back in there and make up something better - at the time the install was already taking long enough and I just wanted something functional for now. I'm thinking I'll make a one piece bracket, that'll mount using the same two bolts I'm using now.

Mangled - I paid $800 (shipped) for them used... I think they typically go for 1100-1200 new, with cats.

I don't hear a leak, it might be hard to pick up from the recording but it sounds pretty good to me.
