I don't see how putting on a different intake or exhaust can raise the original factory rating of 285 hp and 325 tq at the crank if that's what the engine is rated at sitting in a crate before it's installed.
Your premise is faulty.

It makes 285 hp AS INSTALLED in your engine. For more information, go to google and type in - gross net hp ratings difference -

When you modify something (like the intake) you are now making more hp than the motor originally did, and the same drivetrain loss (like 20% or so) says pretty much constant.

OK, I'm starting to understand. So my 5.3L was rated at 285 hp and 325 tq with the factory intake, exhaust, etc., already installed. I've never had my truck dynoed but would like to, based on my mods and 1/4 time, what do you think I'm making? I know some of you have dynoed your trucks and go to the track also, so some of you may have an idea based on your own experience.
Thanks, Jim
