Default Dyno time for my 03! (thanks to MMS!)

I went with blownchevy, the only other truck, to MMS (morgan motorsports) yesterday. Dynoed my truck 6 times too at a killer price!

Very cool guys at MMS that have TONS of knowledge and experience building and racing LS1 based engines! I am really considering getting their head and cam package for my 03! There were multiple Fbodies making almost 400 hp with just bolt ons and the MMS cam/head package! I was very impressed!

My truck made 268 hp and 295 ft lbs to the wheels. This is about right when compared to another 03 5.3 I know that only has intake and exhuast. I have both those mods and headers + the diablo. This would mean I am getting at least 10-18hp from the headers, probably only a few hp from the diablo. With the 20% driveline loss that puts my truck at 335hp. That’s a 50hp gain over stock with an air filter, exhaust, headers and programmer. I am definitely happy with the results and cant wait to see how the truck does on the track.

The diablo DOES make a HUGE difference by deleting torque management though! Between gear shifts WITHOUT TM the hp drops like 9+ hp. With the diablo I gained some serious hp 9+ with TM deleted.

Below are two links. The first one is to the first three dynos I did on my truck. The second link shows two dynos WITHOUT diablo tuning installed compared to one run WITH the diablo tuning. The huge downward spikes on the charts show where the torque management kicks in and seriously drops hp before shifts. With the diablo the spikes jump UP before shifts, thanks to the deletion of torque management.

So if I read that right. You gained around 60 hp with the Predator on the second link in run #21? You first runs look good. But the last ones look like jagged lines. Nothing somooth about those. What the deal with that?

Yea I dont know whats up with that spike. HP/TQ spikes just happen but dont indicate "true" hp or performance.

What I think it does indicate is that hp is making a quick jump up before gear shifts, which is better than making a quick jump down.

The second dyno is measured according to MPH and NOT RPMs so this might have something to do with the spikes. Sorry I forgot to mention that!

Now if the hp was to jump up that high and STAY that high then that would be awesome but unfortunately completely impossible with my basic bolt on mods.

Interesting info I can feel the TM in trans upshifts. The scan tool shows timning swings as much as 30º during gear shifts.
Warning: disabling TM can cause spontaneous transmission failure.
Now off to the track with you
Sorry I wasn't there to see it. Family stuff overruled my plans..........

yea no big deal. The dyno session was fun though.

Not to worried about the TM and tranny failure thing. I dont drive it that hard, only when at the track.

I defintely want to check out your shops heads! Maybe next week sometime. Is there a good time/day to stop by?
