Default Dynomax VT sound results

I have a 99 escb silverado 6.0 stock manifolds gutted cats and a summit muffler. I didnt realize how bad my truck droned till I made a trip in it for work. It was brutal my wife was pissed how loud my truck was. Sooooo I bought a dynomax vt. First off I didnt go buy a calibrated db machine but I downloaded an app and did back to back comparisons. At warm idle in park the summit muffler did 60 to 65 dbs and the vt was 50 to 52 db. My truck drone zone was from 1500 to 1900. In park max drone from 1500 to 1900 the summit did 90 to 95 dbs and the VT 60 to 65 dbs. Cruising at 75 mph was the hardest to get a fair comparison but the summit muffler was around 95 and in the extra cab i got up to 105 dbs now the vt was from 80 to low 90s. Im not saying my phone it perfect but thats back to back within the same week. The VT still gets pretty loud at wot and this would be a great muffler for someone living in condos or apartments.

good to know, I'm getting the VT muffler, the drone in my nnbs ecsb was aweful to the point my wife wouldn't drive it. Plus I live in a quiet neighborhood and like my neighbors but also like my V8 sound.

Thanks for the write-up!

I tried a couple of VT mufflers when they first were released and they made a very annoying rattling sound. I was told that Dynomax changed the design of the spring angle but I haven't heard one of these mufflers since then.

So my question is, do you have an annoying rattle sound?

No rattling so far they had a very little gap around the top of the flapper when they first came out now they have more of a gap. They would have sent you another muffler.

I got mine from an exhaust teacher who had helped with some of the R&D. I probably could have gotten newer ones, but at the time I needed something to keep my wife happy lol.

tryiing to figure out where to get a center in center out dynomax VT muffler, the ones on summit are all offset in, center out's. Any ideas? would like to use this muffler on my truck, dual VT's that is for my true dual.

also, would have been pretty nice if you could get a WOT estimated "average" of how loud both mufflers are, is the VT loud enough compared to the old muffler?
