Default Dynomax "X-pipe" Mufflers?

Gonna use this muffler for my custom exhaust build. Any reasons not to?

In my opinion, the x-pipe in the muffler is little more than marketing hype. By the time the exhaust gases reach the muffler in a standard position on the truck, the gases have cooled enough that their velocity through the x-pipe is slow enough to not help "pull" the exhaust through the other bank via the cross-over.

Any cross-over pipe, be it an x-pipe or an h-pipe, needs to be as close to the collectors as possible to be of most benefit. The reasoning is because that is where the exhaust gases are of a higher temperature and don't move lazily like they do when it cools down.

So in short, I'd ditch the x-pipe in the muffler and get a true x-pipe and put it as far up in the exhaust as you can.

So from a performance standpoint, the "x" mufflers are pointless. Maybe a di/do magnaflow without the x or two single straight through style mufflers with an actual x pipe after the headers? my main concern being that I'm building my own exhaust and didn't buy an x pipe or anything. I guess that will be on my "to make" list. Catch my project in the projects section. Planning to start on Thursday.

If you're running duals, I'd highly recommend an x-pipe, or just any crossover pipe. It'll help the exhaust scavenging, especially in the lower rpm range.
