man that is a lot said there. i hear you. hope you got them wired up and working. did you use the derale. or another one. i know what it is to be spending the dough. i have a ton invested in mine. every once in a while i will try to do something a little cheaper for the moment to be able to splurge later. i guess some will never understand that part.on the other hand if they read all post and what is sayed then they wouldnt make those other comments. good luck.

I think e-allen's gist of his post was that he was concerened because there were some basic questions being asked about modifying and setting up a rather high-priority item in the engine bay. He was harsh, but I think he means well.

I think there are a fair amount of "gotcha's" when wiring your own e-fans with custom parts... You'll probably read a few stories on here about relays melting and trucks overheating. A good handfull of FAL controllers failed too. I highly recommend the DCC controller if you want a very reliable way to get things running without going into the PCM.

I have the ability to setup my computer to run my fans, but I don't have much interest to. The DCC unit only turns the fans on as much as needed - no big "WHIRRRRRRRRRR" when they turn on. (unless you're running the A/C, which sets them to 50 or 60%.).

I'm setting up my fans w/ the Derale because thats the cheapest way I can do it until I can afford a tune. I want the fans now because I have them and I would rather have them on my truck than just sitting in the garage collecting dust. When I get my tune I will probably hook them up throught the pcm. I guess some people just cant understand that.

If you could find a place to screw in the probe I would use it, but I couldn't. They seem to work just as good either way, so I would probably just get the push in radiator fin probe.

I don't know the difference... FAL and DCC use a probe that sticks into the fins of the radiator. That works fine for me...
