thanks andrew. looks like the removal of the carrier was a PITA. also looked like you ran into a few unexpected obstacles too (visits to shops and garages). i bet the 2nd time around will be a piece of cake.

 

Yeah, not having a vice is the main reason I had to go to the shops. if I had had one I would have been able to get the ring gear on and off. And the other reason was knowing the right way to get the eaton out and the shims in. Those things were really the only things that held me up. If it hadn't been for those this would have been a one day thing. Bearing races and cups - there is no difference.
