Flyer, this is the center pin Hitman is refering to. There will be a set screw about where my right index finger is in the pic. Pull that pin out, push the axles in, pull off teh c-clips and pull out the axles. If you havent already taken the caliper brackets off, find you a nice piece of pipe to use as a cheater to break the bolts loose cause they are tough with the 2 lbs of yellow locktite GM puts on them.

GOTYA ... thanks BigKid. I will give that a shot tonite. I broke a 3/8" ratchet on those damn caliper bolts. Those things are a BITCH! I only did one side. I almost ate a piece of brake rotor when the rathcet let loose so I thought I would take a break from them.

Will I need to take that fat *** pin out of the Eaton as well?

I was looking for something small on the inside of the differential I was suppose to take out.

Yep, installation of the Eaton will just be the reverse of the G80 removal. Just dont forget to put the set screw in the centerpin when you put it back in.

Is there anything special I need to get those damned clips off? I can't get them to budge. Do any of the guts come out of the diff once the pin comes out?

I'm guessing I pull the clips out from the side shown in the picture?

OK ... I've goten this far. The brakes are completely off. The bare axle hubs are showing, even the rotors are gone. I can push the axles in and see the clips. I can't get the damn things to come off though. That silver block in the middle seems to be in the way. I can't get it out, and I can't see how it would come out. I got the pin out and it will move around, but I can't get anything to come out.

I took a screwindriver after the clips to try and pry them off ... they didn't even budge! I think if I could at least get the differential out .. I could get it back in. The new one doesn't have all that added **** in the front of it.

On a side note ... I can see where some wtress has been put on that pin that goes through the middle. It has some nice scars on it. I see some hard dings on the gears too which tells me that they have seen a good bit of stress too, I'm guessing from the G80 being a little screwy with it's lockup and such.

i could help you more with a better pic of the other side. but tell me this the screw/pin came out on the other side (or the photo i did not wright on). if so the center piece will slide out from that side. on my buddies car i actualy had to take a hammert after the center piece because the rearend was trashed. i just taped on it to get it to slide out. i am prety sure it will not slide completely out just enough to let the axles slide in.

this sux when i have some good resources but none of them are in front of me.

get me a better pic and hopefully i can help some more.
