I decided to get a catch can but didn’t want to spend +100 dollars on a can. I bought this can off ebay for less than 30 dollars shipped. It's a gunmetal finish. I took it completely apart to look at the quality and to do some modifications. The quality is okay but the parts had some burs (which i removed). On the left side I added some ½ inch hose and lightly stuffed the hose with some stainless steel pad material. The left side will be my entrance, which will be filtered through the pad material (this seems to be how most of the high end catch cans are). I’m going to take the view gage off on the left side in order to keep it simply. Hopefully I can have it mounted tomorrow. Let me know what you think.

Thats actually a really nice looking can for $30. What is this stainless steel padded stuff?

Would adding a catch can to a motor isnt FI but one that has blow by be helpful?

 

I got the stainless pad stuff from a Wal_Mart. Called "Chore Boy" made for scrubbing pots and pans. I'm just trying to copy() the more expensive versions design. I think the idea is to give the oil vapor something to collect on, instead of remaining a vapor and exiting out the fresh side. I really don't have a oil consumption problem just doing it for insurance.

Got the can installed. Overall it was pretty easy. I had to make a brace in order to mount it. The other spot I thought of putting it was on the fuse box.

Very clean looking, was this item originally intended to be a catch can or did you modify it to be one? Also, I'm assuming that the brass fitting across from the level indicator is the drain?
