224 is fine..... most cars with efans, kick on around 227-228....

food for thought, bigger radiator means more water to keep cool... Not saying the 34 in radiator is a bad investment, bc of more surface area.

I run a 160 stat with the 40k trans cooler and my heat exchanger in front of the radiator and in 100+ weather it wont go over 180 water temp.

FWIW, I have a 34" radiator now with OEM truck fans and a stock thermostat. I have a 40k trans cooler and a Maggie heat exchanger in front of the radiator. I towed our boat up a large hill in boost for about 2 mile straight with the A/C on and the ambient temp over 100* and the highest I ever saw my ECT was 214.

Same here got hot to 210-224 when I went to ls1 fans and 160 thermo for some reason, went back to stock clutch fan and stock thermo hangs at 208.

I say stock 34" setup and stay cool, my truck stays around 199* all the time. I have a lingenfelter(spell?) 180* and saw no improvement over a stock t stat.

It was around 95 degrees here a couple weeks ago and setting idling in the drive thru I watched my temps when I was logging go up to about 230-240 and I had never had my truck do that ever, had it since it was new.

New stock thermostat, stock 34" radiator, stock fan clutch. I might try another new thermostat and see what happens maybe even might go with at least a 180. It was strange because I have been through 5 summers with this truck and the 90+ degree temps have never caused it to heat up like that.

Well i got my fan connectors today from DC_Justin for the 05+ efans. I will be ordering a new 34" radiator ($165 shipped) and some new 07+ efans ($212 shipped) in a day or so... Interesting thing while researching this 05-06 efans have 1 fan with 5 blades and the other with 7 blades. The 07+ both have 7 blades... HOpefully i will know next weekend if that solves my problem...
