why would you open up your wastegate? is that where the swoosh sound comes from? when it dumps to atmosphere? i have always wondered how we can get more "turbo sound" out of this motor. but at the same time i dont want any surging. i have heard of people dumping the bov out to atmosphere for the sound

i dont have the wategate opened up. it's permanently closed, i took the boost line off of the actuator. why would i do this? it lowers exhaust gas temp by about 150` and allows the motor to boost up to 33 lb. instead of the factory wastegate that will only allow 30 psi. when doing this you will need a bov, or surge will occur and you will destroy your turbo thrust bearings in about 2 weeks. i know. as for dumping to the atmosphere, the factory wastegate blows off to the exit side of the turbo, headpipe. the bov does open to the atmosphere and is very loud. i dont know what the 3 psi of boost is worth, but the cooler exhaust temps are a +, i only hit around 1340` with my juice/additude monitor. before this i hit 1450` on the dyno with the 90hp box.
