Effect of Stall converters?

Re: Effect of Stall converters?
I have a Vig 3200 in my truck and it is not bad at all. I would imagine it is a lot looser than the Yanks, since the vig's are really made for the F-body's, and most people don't even know I have anything done...until I floor it that is.

So whay were saying here is the factory stall is set so low, so that wimps and old ladies won't be scared of them?
A little too much neck snapping acceleration when you stomp it to the floor? will it seem touchier when you go to a 3000 stall? this may sound like a very worth while mod. How much is the stall and what is all involved in the swap?
I have done auto trans converter replcement in older chevys but not a new truck. Tell me more!!!

Re: Effect of Stall converters?
yank 3000 has full towing and will give you around .5 1/4 mile and 0-60 improvement. .5 is ALOT!! and you will feel it.
why doesn't the factory do it... well they do put higher stalls in performance aplications, these are trucks, not performance vehicles. a stall will get a little worse intown MPG, will make a loud truck seem louder. most of all a higher stall feels "loose", you will see what we are talking about and it isn't exactly a good feeling but like alot of things there are trade off's, the looseness of a 3000stall is very mild and the ET improvement is huge, after a day or so of driving it you wont even remember it is in there.

How about Yank 3000 vs Yank 3200? I never tow anything but won't the 3200 cause more drivetrain loss or will it definitly be faster than a 3000?

I drove one of the mods on this boards car(Devilbird) with a Yank ST3500 in his Formula and it wasn't anything strange at all. It's real loose because he has 2.73 gears, but say 3.23s or 3.73s with a 3000+ stall would be real tight. Converters are fun
