How long will a converter swap take if you are mechanically inclined? What will I need beyond the converter and the tools? Will the boys at Chevy be voiding my warranty if I do this? I have about 17k on my 2002, so I have alot of time left on the warranty. Please advise.

Do ya have access to a lift or is this gonna be in the drive way? If in the driveway, I'd recommend just shelling out $250 to pay someone...my weekends are too valuable to have a immobile vehicle.

If your trans breaks and the dealer notices you have a 3000 stall you will probably be denied, but it is a risk well worth taking. I don't see a pretty much stock (few bolt-ons) 4L60E taking a dump that soon even with the slight increase in STR.

That is unless your pressure control solenoid took a crap a year ago and you don't notice it until you put a shift kit in and the damage is already done. Been there done that, paid the bill.

Man it just seems to get more complicated, the more questions are answered, the more come up. i guess everyone has had some good and bad experiences.

Not trying to scare you off. Definitely do the converter, you won't regret it. I went with a GM 2000 stall and I'm still miffed at myself for not waiting the few days for my Yank 3000 to show up. I'm also glad I did the shift kit not only because of the obvious benefits but because it's how I discovered that my tranny was taking a crap. Now I have a fresh and strong tranny.

What kind of shift kit did you get. What did it do for you? This is the kind of real world info i need to make a semi-educated choice on mods. Thanks JSMITH.

Get the TransGo shift kit. It firms up the shifts and increases the tranny's longevity. Install billet servos too. Umm, get Predator or Edit to get rid of torque management

Transgo shift kit, transmission oil cooler, and 3000 stall(minimum)

The way my truck feels I really think these motors would love a 3500-3800 stall but, I'm sure towing would not be possible with something like that. 4.10's and a 3800 stall would probably make a wicked combo.

I had the full Transgo kit installed when we did the tranny rebuild.
