electric fan and cooling question

Re: electric fan and cooling question
You guys should look into spal fans. Jegs sells them now under the BeCool name. I put a dual 11" fan set up with shroud on my '68 Camaro, and that thing pulls alot of air. At about $280 it's cheaper, and I'd put the quality of their fans up against flexalite's anyday.

Would 2 11" fans be enough cooling? LT1 fans are 14". I came across 2-11" fans in with a built in shroud and rubber seal today for free and I was thinking of putting them in but I was wondering if they will pull enough air to cool in traffic.

Re: electric fan and cooling question
the dual 15(flx-280/282) is rated at 5500cfm, the spal duel 11 is rated at 2780cfm, not sure what the lt1 is rated at but 2 14's from spal add up to 3440cfm.
this flx-280 sounds like a bad *** fan, seems like it should keep my truck nice and cool(fast!!) after i get my coolant temps steady i think i will work on my intake air temps.

Spal rates their CFM's being pushed through a 2" radiator, not just out in the open like the others. If it can keep my 468 big block cool, it won't have a problem with these small truck engines. The shroud it comes with helps alot, it make the fans pull air are through a larger area then just what the 11" fans cover.

Re: electric fan and cooling question
The 11" fans I got came in a square shroud with a 1" rubber seal all the way around it. The perimeter is about 14"t and 24"w. This doesn't seem very much cooling and I don't have the manufacturer specs on it but I am thinking of trying it anyway. Anyone that has done some experimenting know if 11" fans are enough to keep a 5.3l cool in traffic?
