electric fan Debate:
in the process of looking at going to efans (04 silverado 5.3l) I have been told (now by several people one including Jesse Bubb) Than electric fans rob as much power as the fan clutch by putting a bigger strain on the alternator and in the mean time shortening the life of the alternator (fan clutches are cheap compared to alternators) What do you guys think?

uh they have been dyno proven and track proven. What other proof do you need?
Also Jesse Bubb is the Hyundai of the tuning world. Cheaper doesn't mean better. I would know as I used to have a tune from him.
And of course electric fans are going to put more strain on the alternator. They are eeeeeelllllllectric. If you're that worried about it, but a 145 amp alternator.

It's true that they transfer additional load to the alternator but only when they are on. The best benefit you get from electric fans is that they are only on when needed, so most of the time the engine sees no load at all from them.

GM Uses them on the 07NBS trucks so they must work better or they would have stuck with the old setup im not sure exactly how much extra power they actualy give you but every little bit helps. And on my truck it seems that the only time they stay on for long at all is when im sitting still.
