For you guys with electric fans, how would you rate their cooling quality?

Flexalite 282's, 6.0L radiator, 160 degree thermo.

No problems keeping things cool while sitting still in traffic on 100 degree days with the A/C on.

One little gripe about the controller clicking on/off when it reaches the turn off point but, other than that no problems so far.

Engine bay room is gonna be worth it here soon also.

OK, I see where this is going. My vote is currently the only one for
"poor" cooling.

I have a cooling issue and needed to know whether it is due to poor cooling qualities of elec fans or something else. I haven't looked into the issue yet, but will tomorrow.

I stopped by a track on the way home last night after putting 100 highway miles on the truck. Temps were in the mid 70s. Even with spending 30 minutes coling down in the staging lanes, my engine temps were 208, but even worse, my IATs were in the 150 range. Second run was basically the same way.

Needless to say, I ran like crap. Only ran NA, in full street trim, full exhaust, 20s, tailgate up, and an extra 100 pounds of computer equipment in the cab. 14.3 and 14.2 - The extra heat caused me to run alot richer and have lower timing than normal. My O2 readings were in the .94-.95 range.

Tex,
I have seen a similar thing. Since we did not find a 160 stat for my 04 we cut out the center and when cruising the truck mainatins 170's, but in traffic, or just sitting it will work it's way to the 190's to low 200's. I've got the LS1 fans. Maybe we should try some water wetter and see what we can do. The stock setup may not have the capacity to keep us in the 170's to 180's no matter how big a fan we run.

I understand that it would get into the 190-200s. Thats no big deal. My issue is that with 80* outside temps, I get up to 220+ in traffic. WHen the Texas 100* outside temps hit, I'll be doomed.

FWIW- I have a cold tstat, more water/less Dexcool, and water wetter in the system right now. The flex 282 fans are larger than LS1/LT1 fans, so I shouldn't have this issue. I'm sure there is something else I've got messed up.

Are you sure BOTH fans are running and that they're running at full speed when the temps get up there?

i havn't had a problem untill two days ago.
well the past two days i have been in pegion fordge, TN to spring rod runs a car show/ curise. i rode around for about 5 hours friday nite in 5 mph traffic and my fans ran non stop. the temp out side was 65* at the most and got cooler as the nite went threw. temp of truck was 210-220 range. and i have 160 stat. well today i did the same thing as last nite and the temps were in the 90s. i stoped and got gas and battery was dead. i had some one jump me off and it started. i rode it around pretty hard for about 30 min to let the alt charge up the batt. well it didn't work. i had to get boosted again. i drove 2 hours home and the temp stayed 210 running 80 mph. and as of right now the battery is still dead. i ordered a optmia red top and i will replace it tomorrow.
