I've had one car with electric fans that failed and almost all of my cars (easily 30+ cars) that I've had over the past 20 years of driving (got my school/work permit at 14) have had electric fans. I can understand the concern of losing money if the fans fail, but I totally don't understand how someone can blame losing a motor from a failing fan... That's what gauges are for!!!

If you lose your engine because your fans fail, it's your own fault for not paying close enough attention to the temp guage.

Knock on wood, my 05 efans have been problem free, I'm happy with them

Apparently due to how hot it was outside and the car being turbo charged, the motor reached temps hot enough to do damage before he realized what was happening... And yes i agree that he is a moron for not paying attention to his gauge but, how many of us stare at the gauges 100% of the time whie driving.

I will probably go with the Felx-A-Lites, i just will have to use the stock fan on the 404 for a month or too until i have enough funds to get the fans...

To kill an engine, you have to overheat for quite a looooooong time. The one fan failure I had was on my '85 turbo Dodge Charger, and it did overheat enough to boil the coolant before I could get out of traffic, but dang. Did the steam escaping from the system not tip him off?

Exactly! There is no reason for that to happen if you have half a brain cell.
