Default Engine Build

Alrighty, I need some input on my motor build that is about to go down. All of the machining will be free so anything is possible with the block. Ive got a stock 2002 lq4 6.0 block that ill be using. Ill be using the stock crank. What bore, stroke, deck height would yall use? Im looking for a decent sized engine, possibly 400 cubic inches. It will be a turbo motor with around 8.5-9.0:1 compression in a regular cab truck. Will basically be a daily driver/weekend warrior truck. I want an easy reliable 800-900 horsepower on around 12lbs of boost. Im gonna do work on a set of 317s, full head job(also free)...What size valves? What cam would you run? Thanks for the help guys

Thats a tall order....using the stock 3.622 crank basically means you are stuck to around a 370 (4.03" bore), which is fine, but not close to your 400 cubes. For your power goals I would actually just do a 4.005" hone and put in some nice forged pistons for a 365".

Low compression, low boost, big power, and a DD....not going to happen without some magical heads. Pick 3 of the above and go with that.

Fellow member on here had a 370ci with 317 heads that had some flow work done, but nothing really major. 9.4-9.5CR, Baby cam 215 .566 114lsa, good rods and pistons, and a turbo.
Ended up with ~1100hp to the wheels. and ran mid-high 9s in the quarter.

Dont think you can ask for more there.
Daily drove it and towed with it.

Yea, i didnt think about the stroke before i posted that lol. So a 370 would be about as big as i would wanna go on the stock stroke? You dont think it would be hard to get a 370 on 12lbs to 8-900? Im gonna start doing the machining here soon but will be a little bit before i get parts so i am just trying to make up a plan to stick by.

Yea, especially with your power goals. Why 12lbs? I would push at least 20psi on that low of a compression engine. With some decent heads that will put you pretty damn close to your goals. Keep in mind you will need a big turbo to do this...

I think you should worry less about the numbers its gonna put down and more about the finer points of the build. If you don't build it for some magical power number, you're going to just happen across an engine that makes 600rwhp. And trust me, that'll keep you satisfied for a while

Well, if you are building an engine, you might as well spec it for what you plan to do with it. Like bearing clearances, piston to wall clearances, and other things depending on how much work you want to do on the engine.
