Exhaust help
Truck is a 2004 avalanche with 5.3L. right now, the exhaust is: stock headers and cats, true duals flowing into 40 sieres flowmasters and exiting at around the stock location. im fixin to swap in a new cam tr224r with 112lsa. i know this is a exhaust happy cam so i dont know what i should do. should i take off the flowmasters and run no mufflers or should i buy cut outs and somehow put them before the cats. i want it to be LOUD. any advice?

i'd prolly recommend gettin yourself some long tube headers, either with or without cats... totally up to you. that'll definately "louden" it up, and will open up your exhaust for the cam... dont forget to get yourself a computer tune also...

yeah. if i do get longtubes it will have to wait for a while b/c everything going in is so expensive. and since i live in texas, i have to run cats. the truck will be re-tuned when the cam and everything else goes in

I live in Texas and I just put on my Pacesetter LT's and ORY last Sunday. I have a Single Chamber Flowmaster and it is really loud. It is way too loud for me. I am going to change the muffler to a 2 chamber Flowmaster next week to tone it down a little.

i also live in TX, and have the LTs with ORY, havent had an issue so far. only way i see you having a problem is if you live in a big city, where they ACTUALLY do the visual inspection. small town im in.. no problems...
i am, however, going to have my exhaust custom made, and have some cats put in there, just in-case... been havin alot of problems with the "loudness" and the cops in my area... theyve been tryin to get me, and i think the next time they do, they're gonna have a looksie, and then ill be SOL...

what ive read is that the stock cats flow pretty nicely so if you dont have the dough, you dont need to buy new ones. i think that ill just get me a pair of pacesetter long tubes, keep the cats and the mufflers. the next time the exhaust breaks (its been 4 times now in the past 6 months i think) ill put the pasesetters on.
