It is not DFCO, it is extra fuel left over in the muffler igniting, due to the cats no burning it off (that is what they are designed to do). I have tuned several cars/trucks with no cats that popped before they were tuned. After I tuned the part throttle to the desired AFR, the popping went away ... unless getting out of it from WOT, but that only produced a small pop. Deceleration Fuel Cut Off removes timing and fuel, so the engine is only pumping uncombustionable air.
