i put a truck 4l60e in my f-body. Now I HAD to swap the tail housing for my torque arm and the gear selecter shaft on the side of the tranny. The truck shaft sticks out further and woulda hit my f-body floor pan. YOU should be able to slap it in and go!!! If you want to trade that f-body tail housing for a truck one that doesnt have the torque arm mount lemme know. I also still have the truck gear selector shaft. Tail housing takes 15 minutes to swap for a moron....selector shaft about 30 minutes for someone who is comfortable changing their tranny fluid/filter

Curious though, why would you want to?

Nah, I speciafically asked about swapping out the tranny since I have a dead FLP sitting in my garage from my T/A. i asked about getting it rebuilt so I could put it in the truck and he said it would not be worth the effort. Then again, i was also told the converters were different too.

Any update on this?
The reason I'm asking is because I recently bought a 4L60E from a trans shop out of Tampa. The reason I did this was b/c it was "supposedly" built stronger than stock, and was priced pretty nice. I received it earlier today, and got home to find that the bellhousing on the new one versus the old one are different. The input shafts are also different. Any help on this would be great... as I'm getting angry with this entire experience.
Both transmissions - old on right, new on left
The old trans
The new trans

trannys are the same for fbody and truck. i know i used a fbody trans for a few miles. but i did have to switch the shifter linkage to work with the truck. sicne the truck uses a box for the neutral and indicator
and talishaft housing is different which you just easily swap over, coverters are the same. now if you have an old 4l60 then you might have an issue
but as long as its a LS1 trans your good
