Default f-body cam in 5.3L

Hey guys I found a good deal on a LS1 cam out of an SS, and was just wondering. What would be the gains of this cam? Any tuning needed, since I have headers and intake and full exhaust will it perform even better? I wouldn't have to switch out springs would I? What hp gains would I see 15-20hp, that is what I was told by a few people? I like this cam because I don't want to have to modify anything else, and because it would be a straight swap. Let me know what you guys think, I just want a dependable cam not a gass guzzler.

I do not believe many people choose to do this because the cam in the trucks are very similar to the cam in an LS1. You can get an LS6 cam for 200 though one of the sponsors. And it would net you around 30 rwhp. Also no tuning needed with it!

Oh yeah, I forgot to say that you will need springs with an LS6 cam. An LS1 would need nothing but the cam. I would not expect any significant gains from this cam though.

Would the cam out of a Silverado SS be better, how much hp would I gain from that?

You'd gain very little.
