F-body LS1 bolting up to 700-R4 tranny
Is there any way to drop an F-body LS1 into a 1993 Chevy 1/2ton 4x4, all while bolting it up to the factory 700 tranny. The tranny was just rebuilt with the good stuff, so I'd like to hang on to it. Perhaps there's some kind of adapter plate.... not really sure. Wasn't sure if the F-body tranny would stand up to the abuse w/out shelling out cash for a bullet proof buildup.
TIA

It would be easier to use the 4l60e, so you could use a flywheel and converter from a truck. Also, I'm not sure if the bolt pattern is the same. Programming would also be easier since you will have to get the pcm and harness from a truck or car. If you go this route you won't run in to sensor problems, and will only have to customize wiring for the gauges.

Re: F-body LS1 bolting up to 700-R4 tranny
This is actually for a friends truck. He just had the tranny completely rebuilt (700-R4), and now the motor is starting to get really tired after 160k+ miles. He questioned me about dropping in a complete LS1 from an F-body, with all accessories and wiring included. Wasn't sure how that would work with his current tranny. Am I reading correctly in that the tranny will bolt up, but the PCM may have problems? He does a lot of pulling, so I don't think a stock F-body 4L60E is going to cut it.
