As stupid as this sounds does anybody know how to get the factory governor off of a 2005 5.3?

+1 on the tuning software. go hp tuners.

 

Either order a mail order tune such as Blackbear or spend the money to buy tuning software such as EFI Live or HP Tuners

 

Press the e-brake in 3 times, click the headlight switch to these positions in this order (off, parking lights, headlights, parking lights, headlights, parking lights, off, parking lights, headlights, parking lights, headlights, parking lights, headlights, parking lights, off), press the gas pedal 8 times, and turn the radio to 89.7 FM, then turn on the key and you should be good to go.
