Default Fan clutch removal?

How do I do this? It has a single bolt, fan and pully turns with wrench and slips with me holding it. Is there a trick?

Get a rubber strap wrench from Sears (the longest one you can find). I think mine is like a foot and a half... Put that around the fan pulley after cleaning all of the dust off with windex or something. Then try to set the handle of the strap wrench on another part of the engine so you don't have to worry about holding it in place. Next get a BIG wrench, I used a monkey wrench, and a cheater bar (pvc pipe etc. I used the end bar on my jack) and slide it over the handle of the wrench. This should give you clearence of engine stuff and enough leverage to break the fan loose.
Good Luck, Ryan

I used a big open end wrench, it's like a 1 5/16" and a hammer. Give the wrench a couple of QUICK hard wraps with the hammer, mine came right off that way.

i used the hammer trick also, worked like a charm. it will turn and you will have to get a new grip on it a few times, like maybe an entire revolution.

If I remember right it's left handed threads too. The hammer and wrench way worked for me. <img border="0" alt="[judgement]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" />

I am not sure what left handed threads are, but mine was on just like any nut would be. The old vortecs had the ones that go on reverse.

Used the strap wrench. Worked great! Loosened the same direction as the fan counter clockwise. Thanks again. Was putting on ASP underdrive pulleys. I could really feal a difference. Volts drop but I'm not bothered by it.
