Default Fan Shroud Required?

Is there any loss of cooling if you were to just leave the fan shroud out while retaining the clutch fan?

I ask because I have a chance to get a 34" radiator. The truck is a V6 but don't want to have to purchase the V8 shroud to fit the radiator. No electric fans as of yet, but plan on it.

v6 dosent need a radiator that big...it uses the same radiator as the v8's. its plenty IMO. to answer the question i think you will lose some cooling without the shroud. not exactly sure how much.

TX, reason I'm asking is because I hit a deer. Insurance is covering it and if I can get the 34 inch radiator now, its just one thing off the list. I want to drop in a 6.0 eventually.

If I end up sticking the 34" in, I'll just go with no shroud. I dont know if the shroud now is busted or not. Not even positive the radiator is too damaged... just ahead of the game. Going to check everything out at the body shop tomorrow and order a few aftermarket parts to put on it.

Thanks

Personally, I'd either get a shroud off an HD or find a way to make the fan shroud work. The purpose of the shroud is to help the fan suck air through the radiator. I've seen guys run cars without shrouds before and experience overheating problems that were rememdied by re-installing a shroud. You could try it without and you may get lucky, but if it were me, I wouldn't, just my .02

I'm in West Central Texas... Looks like I'll be keeping the 28" radiator and shroud. One tiny crack in the shroud but I don't think the radiator was damaged. Thanks guys.
