Fast Tahoes?
How fast are folks going?
My 99 L31 went 16.3 bonestock with a dying trans last year... but I raced a 15.5 buddy a while ago from a 20 roll and we were even...
I'm thinking with an airbox, a gear and HPP3 I can maybe get close to the 14's.

Re: Fast Tahoes?
You need to talk to James B., Y2KLimited, Blown4x4, and a couple other guys at the Pacific Audio site.
James B. has a '98 or '99 4-door 2wd, supercharged, intercooled(?), and for some reason put a Gear Vendors overdrive unit in it. It runs pretty decent (low 14's???).
Y2K has a '00 4-door old-body-style Limited that had a Procharger on it and some other goodies until the motor let go. I think he made a few high 13 second passes in it. Now he has some crazy plans for it...400+ci small block, forged internals, heads, monster cam, possible twin turbo, the works.
Blown4x4 has a pretty nice rig too, http://www.blown4x4.com/

Concentrate PSJ....ON THE CAR!!
The best thing you can do with that Tahoe is try to get better gas mileage outta it with a filter kit and exhaust. The exhaust(catback) will really wake up the low and midrange torque. I put a flowmaster catback on my Dad's old truck and it made a definate difference in power and gas mileage.

Re: Fast Tahoes?
14.8 that's great!
Yeah I just want to know that I have low 15/high 14 second setup it's nice to wack other trucks and a lot of import cars.
I might need to replace the 3.08 gear, should I do a 3.42 or a 4.10?

3.08 gears? I thought my stock 3.42s were lazy. 4.10 gears will help a bunch (probably 3 tenths), but a converter like my Trailblazer-based Yank Truck Thruster 3000 will give you an even bigger gain (more like 5-6 tenths). I say do both!
I'm keeping my 3.42s only because I love getting 21-22 mpgs on the highway. UPD is a great mod, so is the ASP UD pulley and the Magnaflow muffler. Oh yeah, I really like the HPP3, but I can't wait to do some LS1 Edit programming (throttle by wire torque management sucks).

Re: Fast Tahoes?
If my gears are crap I will probably do 3.42's because I like getting decent gas mileage.
A converter sounds very interesting, how much is that one? I still need to tow 5000 lbs.
My motor stock is rated at 280hp/330tq... Since I am keeping up with a catback'd 00 4x4 Silv single cab I am doing pretty good for just having a catback too. I'm guessing low 15's with a converter and gear.
