Fbody 4l60E the same or not??
I just had my tranny flushed and it needs to be replaced here shortly. When searching for tranny's there are a lot of fbody tranny's for sale and I was wondering if there is any diffrence, also this is a 4wd 00' RC. Let me know what the diffrence's are if there are any.

If they are the same, how is it that the F-Body can hold more horsepower without blowing the tranny, but the truck trannies blow with less horsepower?

For 2wd there really is not physical diffrence between the two, maybe the spline count, diameter of the tail shaft, or the length. But on the 4wd the most likely reason is there probably isn't any mounting hole's to mount the tcase to the tranny!

Um no to some of the stuff posted... haven't posted in a while but... 4x4 has a different OUTPUT SHAFT than the 2x4 ones. Case is the same...take off the tail shaft and the t-case will bolt to a 2x4 trans but won't work due to the output shaft. Tailshafts should be the same on 2x4 truck and F-bod, but I can't confirm now.
F-bod's also weight about 1000-1300lbs less than a truck (about 4400lbs for a RCSB maybe?) that accounts for the holding capacities. They will and do slip around 375rwtq, usually on the 2-3 upshift (3-4 pack going bad) if nothing internally breaks first.
Either way time to face the music, 4L60E is a POOR factory tranny other than stock or near stock apps. Plan at least a TransGo and billet apply servos w/ a large cooler to hold up with bolt ons. Anymore than boltons and get ready to go inside it...

Well that depends on what all parts you need. Different places have different pricing...
I'd look for:
TransGo kit
Fairbanks Billet OD servo
Fairbanks Billet Intermediate servo OR 'Vette Intermediate servo
Aluminum 1-2 Accumulator
That's a great setup for a stock trans.
